Common Problems During Training

On this post I would like to talk about common problems and misconceptions and good reactions to them.

#1: My Dogs Breed isnt "meant" for breading?
This is a very common misconception. It is true some breeds are more apt to training or have different skills, but no dog isnt apt for training. My own dog is living proof. My dog, Abby a 2 year shih tzu is a very intellegent well trained dog herself (humbly speaking) Although I have to admit it wasnt easy! I started training Abby since she was 3 months old. Now, I must admit that it wasnt simple training her but I got the job done. This brings me to my point. It doesnt matter what breed your dog is, as long as you have three things: patience, love, and time. (but dont forget some good treats) If you take your time and make a precise schedule for your pets training you will be having fun and your loved one will be learning very quickly. Another topic is positive reinforcement, never hit your pet. If you do, you will lose its trust and turn training into a nightmare instead of a fun bonding time. If you realize your temper isnt the best for your furry pet, make your training periods short and sweet. Make sure your having fun too! Lastly, I would like to talk about treats. Dont over feed your dog with treats. You can cause obesity, diabetise, and cause more damage than good. Most importantly, make sure both of you are having a good time.

#2: My Dog is taking TOO LONG!
Alot of people believe it takes "max a week" to teach a dog a trick or good behavior. Depending on your dog, there is a variety of times when your dog might "get the hang of" the trick being taught. It took Abby about a week to learn how to shake hands! Now, I have a couple tips to give you an easy time while training:
- start young: Start training your pet as soon as possible. Dont start too strong though. Dont try to make your dog skateboard at 2 weeks! You actually start training sooner that you think. Housebreaking is a type of training because your dog is learning a good habit.

- dont lose hope: you need to have a good mood when you train. Your additude will effect your dogs mood too. If you feel like your losing patience, just stop and try again later.

- Always end on a good note: never end your training session by screaming at your dog or stomping your feet on the ground. This will cause it to feel upset during training sessions instead of looking foward to it.

#3: She Forgot IT!!!!!
If you arent consistent than your dog wont learn. You shouldnt train your dog one day and continue next month. Instead, you should have an organize schedule that consists of at least 2 training periods per day. Possibly, 3 days a week. Do not be TOO consistent either. Dont train your dog for four hours non stop. PLEASE DONT. Dogs arent like humans, who can study for hours non stop. They can easily become stressed and lose concentration. Make sure your training sessions are ten minutes TOPS.

I hope this info was useful. I will be publishing articles that specify on some topics on this article like: treats, scheduling training, and more so be on the look for that!
